The Canadian Impact Venture Investors Coalition

CIVIC is a national coalition uniting leaders who put impact at the core of investment decisions within Canada’s venture capital community. We support venture capital investors and founders who aim to pair strong financial performance with measurable impact.

By raising standards and building shared understanding across investors and founders, CIVIC accelerates well-aligned capital toward ventures tackling Canada’s most pressing social and environmental challenges.

Mission

CIVIC’s mission is to transform venture capital into a driver of sustainable change.

We equip venture capital investors and founders with the tools and frameworks needed to embed impact into fund design, diligence, and portfolio management. Equally important, we connect investors and entrepreneurs through a shared community that encourages knowledge-sharing, peer learning, and alignment on principles, governance, and measurement.

Grounded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CIVIC strengthens accountability and collaboration across the VC ecosystem, ensuring impact is intentional, material, and scalable.

The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) defines impact investments as “investments made with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.”
